Stop and smell the roses

So, I have a test this week, so I thought that i wouldnt have time to write, so much so that i even forgot to bring in my trusty Bridging the Gap!
well, here i am finding myself with an extra half hour so here i am. again.
Allow me to share a problem that I have. I get bored, very easily, especially when its something i've already learned. I cannot stand to go over it again and again. Like when I learned algebra for the first time, i could never handle hearing it again. If a teacher doesnt have something completely new to say then i shut them out, ignore the rest of teh lecture and delve into the world of my phone or ipod (im talking abt in college, never in sem rabbi kass would take it away from me!)
I really dont enjoy learning old material, even if the teacher has a new twist on something i already know, forget it im out for the count. so whats the shaychus? (im getting real yeshivish no?) Im currently taking Principles of Chem, last semester i took Survey of chem . last semester i took the wrong chemistry so now im taking the right one, and this one is supposed to be on a higher level but i've already gone through an entire semester of chem in a class full of pple who havent taken chem since highschool and in the begining all the fundamentals are the same fundamentals that i learned last semester, you catching on yet?
i already know this stuff...or at least i think i do, and the prob is when i get bored get lazy, i dont check my work, work fast make stupid mistakes and even though i know the material i make the silliest mistakes.
so as im sitting here studying, i have to force myself to focus, cuz otherwise im gonna fail this easy test today...are your thoughts going where mine are going yet?
In life, we think we know everything, we think we've heard everything especially after seminary, we know that we had the best teachers, we learned gemara for gosh sakes, we know more halacha then most guys out there, so what can i possibly get from the lady who is comin to give the shiur tonight? What can i learn from my baal teshuva parent, friend, neighbor? But to quote another starbucks cup:you can learn a lot more from listening than from talking...its physically impossible to listen with your mouth open"
So spend more time listening, read your notes one more time and look out for the nuance that you missed last time you were studying. that one smalll nuance can make all the difference, that extra focus will help you pass the next easy test that Hashem throws your way with flyin colors! not every test He gives us are meant to be extremely difficult, we just miss the easy ones cuz we are looking too hard for the difficult ones that we miss the opportunities for small growths that make us into the people that we are! so take the time to review, listen again to a shiur on a topic "you totally know by heart" and it can change your life!
