Happy Traveling
hey ya'll,just my weekly shout out to all my peeps; hows it?so i decided to do my weekly post early this week seeing as its always a mad rush on Fridays to get this thing thought through and written in the midst of frying fish and making rice( in case you forgot I'm Persian no gefilte fish and kugel for us!) so the week is coming to a close and we are all ready for a relaxing shabbat, in extreme need for that break, that wonderful gift, the blessing our Father in heaven gives us once a week whether its from school( college is no party man), screaming obnoxious kids( who said camp is fun) or any kinda work, so as i sit here rambling this is usually when i get my brain wave that sends me off typing furiously, plus you guys are lucky bcz I'm currently waiting for someone to IM me back so i have even more time for the genius to arrive, but seriously now- i do have a couple of things that id like to say you don't have to listen or read as the case may be but that's your loss
( ain't i humble!)
i remember learning ( and no not in sem) that the world is only supposed to exist for 7 days, meaning every shabbat is Hashem's re-creation of the world, every week on shabbat Hashem totally starts the world again bcz without shabbat the world would be destroyed so while you are taking your 5-hour shabbos nap( or is that just me) remember would it not be for today there would be no Sunday to which we have been looking forward to for the past ten months. i dunno that struck a chord with me it might no with you and now moving on:i was listening to R'Geisler's self awareness vaad ( p.s anyone who has it should try listening to it its more crucial now that we are in our prospective countries which are NOT centered on Torah and have massively messed up priorities)anywhoooooooose, here is the sitch, apparently we all have something programmed in us biologically that is constantly looking to see who is watching and how are we doing in their eyes, now the real shailer in life is :
who are YOU answering to? are you and "eved society" or an "eved Hashem" you have this instinct programmed into you now all you gotta do is challenge it in the proper way, are you answering to G-d for all your actions, can you admit to yourself ( talkin to myself here mainly this is just a way for me to review and make myself think something spiritual) that you have a prob with anger, respecting your parents..etc. we all have probs, we all have flaws, none of us are perfect, its impossible, but are we willing to give ourselves the time it requires to pull out those character flaws that we have buried within us bcz as my tehilim teacher in high school always said " there is no such thing as a bad mida, every mida has potential for good and bad and we need to direct it properly" and we need to do that exactly work on those middos till they become a kiddush Hashem, we need to be baale teshevua constantly.
since the baal teshuva moment the term is now used in reference to those nevey students who come in with halter tops, shorts, long blond hair with black roots and so many piercing you cant see there face ( ahh sweet memories), but once it refered to those who worked on themselves constantly changing themselves and thus living the life of a true servant of G-D. i think it was in mrs. birnbaum's class that we learned that every morning we should wake up and beg forgiveness from Hashem and doing teshuva that had i known what i know today about HAshem i would have never done/said that which i did yesterday, use everyday to to learn more and become closer to Hashem( which is the idea of learning everyday is supposed to bring you to")
also i remember R'G saying one morning that every time we come to stand before Hashem your tefilla should be a totally diff experience then it was yesterday, now personally i have been trying to do that but it just ain't happening but as mrs. baumol said you just need to know what you are striving for bcz without the goal you could have all the gas, maps and food in the world but you'll never get there!
happy traveling and sabbatical salutations
