Whats your decision?
So this is something that I wanted to write about last week but I decided to postpone it bcz the Chanukah stuff was kinda time-sensitive. So last motzai Shabbat we had a highschool reunion including the married girls who are like three or four years older than us. One of the alum who was there had an amazing story to tell us and I’d like to share it with ya’ll. So basically she is a girl in my class’s sister and half way last year her three yr old “( I think) was diagnosed with cancer, we should never know of such things.
However, we can try to imagine the shock and the fear that went through his parents when they discovered the tumor. She had taken him to the doctor bcz she thought he had a lot of gas and she was worried so she went to make sure that it was nothing, the doc sent her to the hospital for x-rays bcz he didn’t want her to have to wait months for an appointment at a regular place. So she’s waiting patiently annoyed that she’s waiting but she’s is so happy she is not one of the emergencies that are flying all around her, Baruch Hashem her child is healthy, a little gassy but that’s it. So when she finally taken in to the room all of a sudden a swarm of doctors swoop into the room and surround mordechai. They are all whispering to themselves, hushed tones and orah is getting nervous this doesn’t seem routine.
Finally, the head doctor comes over to her and asks her “ have you considered the possibility that it might be a tumor?” of course not was her reaction “we aren’t sure but we like to warn thhhe parents befpre hand of the possibility.” So of course she was freaking out as any normal person would, she just thought that her baby had gas, a tumor?! Mah kesher? Anyway they tested out the possibility and these were here excact words that sent ME into shock “ and baruch Hashem, it was a tumor” yeah, you read that right. Now I don’t know how many of us would be able to say such a thing I know that it was just hard to hear let alone say. So she went on to tell us the rest of the story of going to America and back but that is for a different time.
Did you hear/read those words?
Remember last year when you were constantly searching for that amazing place for Shabbat, those amazaing people that you heard about that you had to go to. Well during the course of last year and this I have learn more and more that the most “ammmmmmaaaaaaaaaaaaazzzzzing” people are usually the normal everyday people whim you would never think twice about. I'm sure you’ve all had the experience when you went to some random family for Shabbat not expecting much but to your surprise, you see that there is so much to learn from them, so much inspiration to be gleaned from this “normal” Shabbat.
We all learned a billion times the chazal ( I think it’s a chazal) that says that we all have the ability to be like Moshe rabeinu. Now we cant all reach his level, we cant even reach the status of getting nevuah. So what does this mean? We all can fulfill our potential like moshe. tZarot are there to help us get closer to Hashem, when we are in a time of distress and there is no where to turn we have no choice bit to turn to our Father and beseech Him for mercy. We have no alternative source of Comfort. He is the one and only who determiones the outcome of every action, every medication, every surgery, aevery procedure, the doctors are just His messengers. there is another way of getting close to Hashem and that is through simcha. We know that purim has the kedusha of Yom Kippur.
We have the ability to connect to Hashem through joy then we shouldn’t need the tzarot. We all need to look into our lives and check, are we maximing our potential. Are we doing everything we can to become closer to Hashem. Its teves, Hashem is letting go of the bike and giving us the opportunity to ride ourselves under His constant, watchful eye. So its up to us, are we going to take adavatage of our lives that are easy and besimcha to connect to Him or are we waiting for Him to give us that push that may not be so comfortable to get close to Him.
The decision is up to YOU!
Have a great Shabbat!
